Every organization has a beginning—but ours started with something personal.
In 2017, Scott Olson, founder of Pathway Healthcare, was helping a young man from his Bible study group whose life was being derailed by addiction. Scott stepped in and arranged for treatment through a family-run program in North Alabama. What happened next changed everything. The young man got better. His life began to turn around. And Scott realized just how many people didn’t have access to the kind of help that made that possible.
That experience opened his eyes—and ignited a mission.
Scott saw a massive gap in care. While the most severe and mild cases of addiction were often addressed, the vast “middle 80%”—everyday people in crisis—were left behind. They were struggling without access to affordable, effective, coordinated care.
So he got to work.
Pathway Healthcare was founded with a bold vision: to make evidence-based, outpatient treatment accessible to those who needed it most. It started with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)—and quickly grew into something bigger. We recognized that addiction and mental health are deeply connected, and treating one without the other leaves people vulnerable to relapse or continued suffering.
Today, our approach brings together medical care, behavioral health, and personalized support, creating a treatment model that meets people where they are, not where the system expects them to be.
The need for care is greater than ever. Millions of Americans are living with untreated mental health or substance use disorders. Families are suffering. Communities are overwhelmed.
