Dr. Stephen M. Taylor Begins Term as ASAM President

What they say

We’re proud to share some truly exciting news: Dr. Stephen M. Taylor, MD, MPH, DFAPA, DFASAM, our Chief Medical Officer here at Pathway Healthcare, has officially begun his two-year term as President of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM)!

With over 30 years of experience in psychiatry, addiction treatment, and public advocacy, Dr. Taylor is one of the nation’s most respected voices in the field. His appointment to this prestigious leadership role is a huge win for the addiction medicine community — and we couldn’t be more honored to have him as part of the Pathway team.

Dr. Stephen Taylor, president of American Society of Addiction Medicine

“As ASAM president, I’m committed to supporting our members as we work together to improve the health and well-being of all people living with addiction, their families, and their communities,” said Dr. Taylor.

In his new role, Dr. Taylor will lead ASAM’s 8,000+ members through a time of change and innovation in addiction policy and treatment. His presidency will focus on:

  • Expanding access to evidence-based, high-quality addiction care

  • Supporting a growing and diverse addiction treatment workforce

  • Driving innovation in individualized treatment pathways

  • Protecting and strengthening Medicaid, Medicare, and other vital funding sources

Dr. Taylor’s leadership couldn’t come at a more critical time. As the country continues to battle the opioid crisis and the ongoing challenges of addiction, his voice, vision, and compassion will be instrumental in shaping the future of care.

We’re incredibly proud to call Dr. Taylor one of our own. His commitment to accessible, person-centered treatment reflects everything we stand for at Pathway Healthcare. As he takes on this new chapter with ASAM, we look forward to supporting his mission — and continuing our shared work to ensure that everyone living with addiction has access to the help they need.
