Expanding access to lifesaving care in Mississippi
Pathway Healthcare is proud to share a new initiative that expands opioid overdose preparedness across Mississippi. In partnership with Emergent BioSolutions, we are now offering NARCAN® Nasal Spray at all of our Mississippi clinics.
This collaboration supports a broader national effort to improve access to emergency treatments for opioid overdose—particularly in high-risk, underserved communities. It’s a timely, meaningful step that we believe will help save lives and provide critical support for those on the path to recovery.
About NARCAN® Nasal Spray
NARCAN® (naloxone HCl) Nasal Spray 4 mg is the first FDA-approved, over-the-counter medication used to reverse the effects of opioid overdose. It’s fast-acting, easy to use, and designed for emergency situations when every second counts. While not a substitute for emergency medical care, having NARCAN® readily available can mean the difference between life and death.
Why it matters to Mississippi
Although opioid overdose deaths are finally starting to decline nationwide, the crisis is still deeply affecting communities across Mississippi. Rural areas and regions with limited healthcare access remain particularly vulnerable. By placing NARCAN® directly in our clinics, we’re bringing immediate support to the places where it’s needed most.
At Pathway Healthcare, we believe that recovery involves more than treatment. It requires a foundation of safety, compassion, and dignity—and this effort reflects that commitment.
A partnership rooted in purpose
Emergent BioSolutions has long been a leader in public health response, and we’re honored to work alongside them in this effort.
“By ensuring that NARCAN® Nasal Spray is readily available in our clinics, we’re helping create safer spaces for recovery,” said Dr. Stephen Taylor, Chief Medical Officer of Pathway Healthcare. “Preparedness is not just about having tools—it’s about creating peace of mind.”
Now, patients and families who visit our locations in Jackson, Vicksburg, Columbus, Laurel, and surrounding areas will have access to this essential resource as part of their care experience.
Normalizing help, reducing stigma
This effort isn’t just about making a medication available—it’s about shifting the way we talk about and respond to opioid use disorder.
“This initiative is about more than distributing a product,” said Lindsay Lane, VP of Business Development at Pathway. “It’s about building a culture where lifesaving interventions are treated as common sense, not controversy.”
By normalizing access to NARCAN® in everyday clinical settings, we hope to reduce stigma and empower more people to seek the help they need without hesitation.
Looking ahead
Pathway Healthcare remains committed to supporting individuals and families through every stage of their recovery journey. Our partnership with Emergent BioSolutions is one more way we’re creating safer, more compassionate environments for healing and progress.
